Ahmad Sanjar أحمد سنجر

Ahmad Sanjar was a prominent Seljuk Sultan who ruled during the later phase of the empire. He served as the Sultan of Khurasan and eventually became the supreme ruler of the Seljuk Empire. His reign saw significant military campaigns, including conflicts with the Kara-Khanid Khanate and the Qara Khitai. While his leadership maintained the empire's political stability for a time, the defeat at the Battle of Qatwan in 1141 weakened Seljuk authority, accelerating the empire's fragmentation. Sanjar's administrative efforts in Khurasan were notable, and he worked to uphold Islamic governance and Persianate administrative traditions.
