Ahmed bin Said al-Busaidi was the founder of the Al Busaid dynasty and a pivotal figure in the consolidation of Oman during the 18th century. Rising to prominence as a governor under the Yaruba dynasty, he played a crucial role in defending Oman against Persian incursions. Following a period of civil strife and external threats, he was elected Imam in 1749, marking the beginning of a new era of stability and prosperity. His leadership focused on reviving the Omani economy, strengthening the naval forces, and re-establishing Oman as a significant maritime power in the Indian Ocean region.
