Jawhar al-Siqilli جوهر الصقلي

Jawhar al-Siqilli was a renowned Fatimid general and administrator, credited with leading the successful conquest of Egypt in 969 CE under Caliph Al-Mu'izz li-Din Allah. He established Cairo as the new capital of the Fatimid Caliphate, overseeing its construction and the foundation of Al-Azhar Mosque, which would become a prominent center of Islamic learning. His military acumen and administrative skills were instrumental in consolidating Fatimid power and securing vital trade routes across North Africa and the Eastern Mediterranean.
