The royal palace on the western side of Naqsh-e Jahan Square, notable for its elevated terrace from which the Shah watched polo matches and its extraordinary Music Room with intricate plaster cutouts.

Historical Context

The palace was Shah Abbas I's seat of government and reception. Foreign ambassadors, merchants, and dignitaries were received here. The building's six stories housed audience halls, administrative offices, and the famous music room.
