The finest Marinid madrasa in Fez, notable for being the only madrasa in Morocco with a minbar, giving it the status of a Friday congregational mosque as well as a school.

Historical Context

The Marinids, a Berber dynasty that succeeded the Almohads in Morocco, were prolific builders of madrasas. The Bou Inania was built by Sultan Abu Inan Faris, who reportedly said that something beautiful needs no justification when questioned about its cost.
