Historical Context

Under Samanid rule, Bukhara attracted scholars, poets, and scientists from across the Islamic world. The city's bazaars, madrasas, and mosques formed a self-sustaining ecosystem of commerce and learning that endured through Mongol destruction and Timurid rebuilding.
