Ince Minareli Madrasa

A Seljuk madrasa in Konya with an extraordinarily elaborate carved portal. Its slender fluted minaret (ince minare) gives the building its name. Now houses the Museum of Stone and Wood Art.
Historical Context
Built during the period when the Sultanate of Rum was increasingly under Mongol suzerainty, the madrasa's lavish decoration may represent a last assertion of Seljuk cultural identity and confidence.
