King Abdullah I Mosque

The principal mosque of Amman, topped by a striking blue mosaic dome. It can accommodate 7,000 worshippers and is named after the founder of the Hashemite Kingdom.
Historical Context
Built in honor of King Abdullah I, the first king of Jordan and great-grandfather of the current monarch. The Hashemites' custodianship of the Haram al-Sharif in Jerusalem gives them a unique position in the Islamic world.
