Historical Context

In approximately 624 CE (2 AH), while leading the noon prayer, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ received a revelation directing him to turn toward the Sacred Mosque in Mecca. The congregation turned mid-prayer, giving the mosque its name: 'Mosque of the Two Qiblas.'
