Mount Uhud

The mountain north of Medina where the Battle of Uhud was fought in 625 CE. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'Uhud is a mountain that loves us and we love it.' It is the burial site of Hamza ibn Abd al-Muttalib and other martyrs.
Historical Context
In 625 CE, the Quraysh of Mecca marched against Medina to avenge their defeat at Badr. The battle at Uhud resulted in significant Muslim casualties, including the Prophet's uncle Hamza. The partial defeat was attributed in the Quran to archers disobeying the Prophet's orders.
